Parent Participation (Work Party, Parent Meetings, Fundraising)
Lonsdale Creek daycares are bright, safe, happy environments. Parents help create this atmosphere with their caring, enthusiastic involvement. Participation in parent meetings, work parties and fundraising activities are part of the commitment parents make by signing the Parent Contract when first enrolling their child.
Parent Meetings – parents attend two evening meetings a year along with staff representatives and the board of directors.
Work Parties - all parents and staff attend two Saturday work parties, one in the spring and the other in the fall.
Attendance at the parent meetings and Saturday work parties is mandatory. It demonstrates parents’ commitment to quality childcare. Parents are responsible for arranging an alternate (family member, friend, babysitter or maid service) to attend the work party in their place should they be unable to attend.
Fundraising – fees generated by enrolment pay for salaries and general operation of the daycare. Fundraising proceeds are used to purchase toys and playground equipment and pay for special programs and field trips for the children.
