Questions & Answers

What are your hours? - 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m for all 3-5 programs. 7:55 a.m. to 5:30 p.m for all Infant and Toddler programs.

How much does daycare cost? - The under 3 program is $1185 per month.  The 3 to 5 program is $810 per month.  We require 6 post dated cheques in advance.

Are your staff trained? – Staff are trained in ECE (Early Childhood Education).  Some staff also have an Infant Care and/or Special Needs Diploma.  As an organization, we are committed to, and encourage continuing education for all staff.

What type of program do you run? – Theme learning Program and Learning Through Play (preschool program within daycare day).

Do you go outdoors? – We have a complete indoor/outdoor program. The children play outside every day, in all weather.

How many children attend your programs? - We run several centres.  Each one is licensed for a different number of children – however, we do not take the maximum number of children as we are always trying to reduce class size and increase staff to develop a better child/staff ratio.

Staff turn over? – We have relatively low turn-over, with some staff that have been with us 10, 14, and 18 years.

Are you open all year? – We are closed Statutory Holidays, Easter Monday and the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.

Do you provide food? - Yes, we give the children a snack in the morning and afternoon.  Snacks include juice.  All snacks follow “The Canada Food Guide”.

What if my child has special dietary restrictions? - Many children have dietary restrictions, due to allergies, ethnic choices, religious reasons, etc.  These can be discussed with the Director when you enrol.  We try to accommodate as many needs as possible.

Do you have peanut free zones? – We do not guarantee any free zones.

Can I visit? – All families must visit and tour the centres before enrolling – this is by appointment.  Please bring your child.

How do I enrol? – After you have toured the centre(s) and when a space has become available, a 1 and a 1/2 hour enrolment interview will be arranged with the Director to discuss important information regarding your child.

How will I know how my child is doing? – There are “Child Progress Reviews” during the year and please feel free to call the Head Supervisor after 10:00 am if you have any updates, questions or concerns.

Do you take children who require extra support? – All children are welcome at LCDC.

My child does not speak English, can he come? – All children are welcome at LCDC.

Can I come and help? – LCDC is a parent involvement daycare but all staff working with the children are trained.
